New WiP's

Week 12 = Catching Up
Day = March 20, 2014

New porch ornament that I got last weekend. The flowers glow in the dark too.

     I have been knitting up a storm these past few weeks. So, what better way to start than with my new WiP's (Work's in Progress).

     Below we have half of a Hello Kitty scarf kit that I got Joanna for her birthday. The kit (from Walmart) came with the yarn (4 little skeins), knitting needles, Hello Kitty patch and tapestry needle. Joanna would help me throw the yarn for a few stitches then move on to something else. There was enough yarn to make 2 child scarves/cowls, so you will see the finished cowl with the Hello Kitty patch tomorrow.

     Next we have the gathered stitch scarf. This one is for one of my knitting classes. I love this pattern because it is great on it's own or as an added element on another project. Say you are making an empire style top. You can easily use this pattern to have a gathered top and then just let the stockinette part flow with no more gathers.

     How many incarnations does a pattern go through before the designer stops tweaking it? Well my grocery bag pattern (pictured below) is on try #4. This is the third bag I have knitted. There was a major design change for pattern #3 which only ended up on paper. However, pattern #3 is the one that I used for my grocery bag class (more about this class later this week)

     Socks, I love knitting socks. They are just so fun to knit and I am trying new techniques and patterns on these socks. I am so thrilled with my yarn pick and my needles (I will tell you about those more later this week).

     So that concludes my WiP's for now. See you tomorrow for my recently finished projects!

Question of the day
What is your favorite WiP from your own knitting?
