Day 3 = September 12, 2014
OWLS by Kate Davies
This is such a cute sweater. The very simple bottom part makes the Owls around the top all that more interesting. I have seen people put eyes only on 1 or 2 owls. I have seen the owls in a different colored yarn. I even saw one that steeked the sweater (for more on that go to the bottom of the post).

Sometimes no matter how much swatching, things just don't work out. Rather than throw the whole thing out see if you can Steek it.

Steeking is when you have knit an item in the round and after you are done knitting you will be cutting it open at a designated spot. For the purposes of this sweater, the center of the front was found. Then a zig-zag stich was done with a sewing machine the length of the sweater on either side of the center line. After that, you grab a pair of scissors and start cutting. Just add a button band to match the bottom ribbing and... viola, no one will ever know your secret.
