My Monday - Blooming in Reverse - Part 2

Week 30 = Giveaway Week
Day 6 = July 28, 2014

I have made a lot of progress this week on the Blooming in Reverse shawl despite myself. I spent last Monday through Thursday knitting and frogging up to 20 rows at least 10 times. I finally got through the math and achieved the feel I was looking for.

Using all the green yarn, I was able to complete 58 rows in stockinette with columns of eyelets as seen above. Measuring the center of the back, the green yarn is 12 1/2" and the width of the green yarn at the top of the shawl in roughly 30" wide.

In this close-up picture you can see that I started the Victoria yarn. There will be about 10 rows in the same pattern, then it will change to hopefully allow me to design the pattern that I see in my head.

I am having so much fun with this project. I have never written a pattern as I am knitting it, I am always too impatient and want to see the final outcome. Some changes and notes have already come up. For example:
  • I really need about 200 yard worsted weight green yarn instead of 127 yards that was available in this Classic Elite skein.
  • I need to re-figure my numbers so that I can evenly divide my sections at each increase section.
  • I really like the color variations of the Victoria yarn and am considering an extra skein to bring me to 279 yards instead of 186.
