Yarn Bombing Part II

Week 14 = Knitting as Art
Day 5 = April 6, 2014

Yesterday I wrote about yarn bombing and showed several examples: trees, steps, chain links and others all covered in yarn. I purposely left out several of my favorites because they all have something other than being yarn bombed in common. If you want to know what I am talking about, read on.

Well, have you guessed yet? They are all statues! Amazing, because the covers are knit flat in pieces and then stitched together on site. After careful measurements one would hope that they fit.

What I love about the yarn bombing of statues is you get a glimpse into the people who knit it. For example, the "Rocky" one the artist who did it actually knit the words "Go see the art" into it. All this to encourage people to go to the museum next door and not just get a picture with the tourist hotspot. Makes you think, huh?

Question of the day
What statue in your area would you like to see yarn bombed?
