Knit Plants as Art

Week 14 = Knitting as Art
Day 2 = April 3, 2014

Here's to post 101 and the next 99 to come. Yeah! Today was a good day. I spent the afternoon with my best friend, enjoyed the lovely outdoors, accomplished some of the things on my endless to-do list and made a fabulous dinner.

Springtime, as I have said before, is my favorite time of year. You get to see Mother Nature creating and awakening everything. I have been going outside daily to check on my plants and am so in awww of their growth and beauty every day.

Some of the knit art that knitters are able to create is astounding, life-like, colorful and so much more.

So what is more springtime than PLANTS? There was an art show, "Knit, Purl, Sow," at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden from October 1, 2013 to January 22, 2014. On their website they list it as follows:
"Knit, Purl, Sow brings together textile and knitting artists in an exhibit ranging from finely detailed botanical renderings to expressionistic plants and landscapes that will inspire a new appreciation for natural forms."

Several times last year I ran into this beautiful photograph which at a glance can be very misleading. It is NOT a real Tiger Lily... it is knit. I made the picture as large as possible so that you can inspect it for yourself. The details, color and design are exquisite.

Just look at the veins in this picture and the center of the big flower. Amazing!
