Toys

Week 24 = Summer Knitting
Day 6 = June 16, 2014

Knitting for your kids can be great when they are on the same page as you or are a 'go with the flow' child. I love knitting for my girls. Knitting toys is a great thing to do. Here are a few:

Accessories

Week 24 = Summer Knitting
Day 5 = June 15, 2014

One of the best things about knitting is all the accessories that can be imagined and created. Knitting a headband, a clutch or some other fun item can be great for a summer knitting project.

What is your favorite accessory to knit?

Lace!

Week 24 = Summer Knitting
Day 3 = June 13, 2014

Lace is definitely airy and summery. So why not knit lace for something other than a shawl?

Ok, ok, I cannot leave out the quintessential lace shawl.

Knitting question of the day
Would you prefer the typical lace shawl or would you do a different type of lace item?

Christmas in June

Week 24 = Summer Knitting
Day 2 = June 12, 2014

Believe it or not, Christmas can start in June. You can easily knit a scarf, socks or gloves in June because the projects are small and do not take a long time to complete. Here are some examples.

Now the other part of Christmas in June is that you can knit Christmas decorations in June, like these items below.

There are so many Christmas things that you can knit in June or you can write out your Christmas Knit List. Just have fun!

When do you start knitting your Christmas gifts?

Summer Knitting

Week 24 = Summer Knitting
Day 1 = June 11, 2014

Picture from Yarned by Kamicha

It is the time of year where we Knitter's change out our knitting projects like we do our clothes. Knitting a blanket in South Carolina June through August is unwise. Knitting with wool or some of the heavier fibers in the South with the humidity is daunting. Basically unless you are willing you struggle a bit you have to change your knitting mind set. So I will bring you a week of patterns that represent summer, air, flow and more.

Knitting question of the day
What is your favorite summer yarn?

It's all about me!

Week 23 = Knitting Declaration/Resolution
Day 7 = June 10, 2014

Declaration - a formal or explicit statement or announcement
Resolution - a firm decision to do or not to do something

Seeing that I have done 5 declarations/resolutions all about knitting I thought that I would save the last night of the week for a personal one. Making knitting declarations/resolutions is an extension of me. Whereas a personal one is just me as I am. In my opinion it is much harder for people to be honest with themselves than it is to be honest with other people.

When thinking about a personal declaration/resolution the typical ones come up:
  • Eating healthy
  • Exercise
  • Weight loss

I thought that I would try to dig deeper.

Personal
     1. I, Victoria Williams, do declare/resolve to stand in my own truth. I will do things to make me happy. I will not only accept my potential I will believe in my potential. I will be strong and lead by example.

Knitting
     1. I, Victoria Williams of Savery Knitting, do declare/resolve to post a blog on SaveryKnitting.blogspot.com every day of 2014, for the purpose of seeing what can happen in a year's time with daily dedication to exploring knitting in all its aspects.

     2. Part 1: I, Victoria Williams of Savery Knitting, do declare/resolve to have only 5 knitting projects for fun and 1 knitting project for charity going at any one time.
    2. Part 2: I will write down 5 of my designs before casting on any new projects.

     3. I, Victoria Williams of Savery Knitting, do declare/resolve that for every new knitting project that I cast on I will also write down one of my own designs.

     4. I, Victoria Williams of Savery Knitting, do declare/resolve to publish one new pattern a month on Ravelry.com starting June 2014.

     5. I, Victoria Williams of Savery Knitting, do declare/resolve to not purchase any more yarn until I have knit all the projects I have set aside in my current yarn stash.

Knitting question of the day
What would be your personal declaration/resolution?

Declaration/Resolution #5

Week 23 = Knitting Declaration/Resolution
Day 6 = June 9, 2014

I thought it would be a good idea to keep the definitions of declaration and resolution up all week for those that don't follow daily (gasp, hand to forehead, faint.)
Declaration - a formal or explicit statement or announcement
Resolution - a firm decision to do or not to do something

Like all Knitters I have a plethora of yarn. I have bought yarn for over 20 projects. (I'm guessing 20...I do not want to count and learn the real number.) For some I had the pattern and needed the yarn. For others, the yarn was just so perfect for a specific someone. Who can walk into a store that sells yarn, be it Joann's or The Village Knittery, and not walk out with more than intended. This happened to me last week. I went to Joann's for a simple size C crochet hook, a $2.00 purchase. When I walked out I had bought 4 skeins of yarn for 2 specific projects and a new case for my knitting notions... spending $20.

     5. I, Victoria Williams of Savery Knitting, do declare/resolve to not purchase any more yarn until I have knit all the projects I have set aside in my current yarn stash.

Here is a reminder of the other declarations/resolutions from this week:
